Backing Up Quicken

Question

Hello, I just received a popup when I went to backup Quicken and it stated, "Quicken recommends not to store your data on OneDrive…". I recently purchased a new computer with Windows, and this is the first time receiving this message. Do I just remove the "OneDrive" from the path name and save it to my C drive where it was prior? Thank you.

@El Hud  I might get corrected, but I have stored my backups on OneDrive for years without issue.  It is the primary data file that needs to reside on the C drive.

As @Chuck56 said, storing backup files on cloud services like OneDrive is fine. It's your main file that you want to keep on your local hard drive and not synced with a cloud service.

Since you mentioned this is happening on a new computer, it may be that your main file is synced with OneDrive. On newer devices, OneDrive is often set to sync with your Documents folder by default. You can check the file location by opening Quicken, selecting the File menu option, and looking near the bottom, just above the Exit option. It will show the file locations of the 4 most recent Quicken files you've opened, with the one you're currently in at the #1 spot.

If the file is synced with OneDrive, you will see OneDrive in the file location.
