Lost Categories with Update

Using QMac Version 9.0.3 (Build 900.60651.100), MacOS 26.4.1. With this update of Quicken to 9.0.3 all my new register updates show category "uncategorized", even for those items which have had categories for a long time. This seems to be a significant glitch and I am in the process of trying to repair all those categories. Don't know if others have had this problem or if it is a known bug, or only affecting me.

Hello @R Strax,

Thank you for reporting the issue you are seeing after the latest update.

This is not a known or widespread issue. I would suggest restoring a backup from before the update.

Restore Quicken data

In Quicken, select File > View/Restore Backups...
Browse your computer or external media to find the backup file you want to restore. The Quicken backup file has the extension .quicken2017backup or .quickenbackup.
Select the file to restore.
Click Choose.

Thank you for the suggestion. My experience with Quicken is that restoring would likely work.

I have simply gone ahead and entered the correct categories for my new updated entries. I know my categories well enough that it's quick and easy for me to do but others might not be familiar enough to fix one by one. Restoring is probably the best solution for most.

The bottom line, near the end of that thread: "Sync [on the Settings > Connected Services screen] is currently required for automatic categorization on accounts that connect using Quicken Connect. [The developers have said] they intend to remove the Sync requirement in a future release."

Thank you Jon and jacobs for your help. I went through the thread and see the issue, appreciate you pointing out this thread to me. I have not had “sync” turned on recently though I have used it in the past. Really not sure if there’s a serious downside to having it on.

Funny how bug fixes sometimes create more problems, but that is the way life is. Best intentions… etc.
