All Downloads Now "Uncategorized?"

All downloads no longer filling in the Category? Has been working automatically for long time. Now suddenly empty field. Column now reads "Uncategorized."

Multiple accounts from USAA, Amex, Citi.

Recent occurrence from multiple sources suggests a glitch from a recent update?

I've made no changes to my settings. And, I'm not about to spend hours re-teaching the software all my transactions.

Anyone else having this issue? I seem to recall it happening before a year or so ago, then eventually and miraculously resolved…

@T-Bird AZ In another thread where this was discussed, a Quicken moderator checked with and reported back from the development team about this issue. In the 9.0 release, they fixed a bug which was causing the setting to enable/disable auto-renaming and categorizing not to work correctly. In fixing that problem, they created another one. Currently, auto-categorization will only work if you have cloud sync turned on (Settings > Mobile, Web & Alerts > Sync=On).

Some people regularly use this feature; others can turn it on even though they don't plan to use the mobile app or web interface; and there are some of us who always leave this off because of persistent reports of cloud syncing resulting in changes to older data. For now, you have to hav e this on if you want auto-categorization to function.

The report from the developers is that they plan to eliminate this dependence in a future release, but we don't know if that will be in the next major release (likely in late June) or sometime further in the future.
