I am running Quicken Classic Business and Professional version R12.18 on Windows 11.
For some time, I have been having lockups when entering the Bills & Income (scheduled transactions) page. The lockup is cleared when I restart Quicken and do a Validate and Repair on the file, but inevitably, at least once a month, the problem returns.
Reading the validation and repair log suggests the following problem is the source of the issue.
The validation process encounters an account labeled ACCT_9a54. I do not recognize this account, and it does not appear on the Account list, even as a hidden account. While validating, Quicken repairs the account. It finds an invalid transaction on the account, dated, 0/ 0/1900 and removes it. It also repairs some transaction information on this account. The account has invalid category types, which Quicken repairs. There are also damaged scheduled transactions which it removes.
So I am inferring that there is a ghost account in my file and there are scheduled transactions arising out of that account, which are, however, not listed on the list of scheduled transactions. When these scheduled transactions cannot be implemented, my scheduled transactions list gets corrupted. Then the next time I enter my list of scheduled transactions, that corrupted list locks the program up.
So my question is, how can I delete this ghost account ACCT_9a54, which does not appear in any of my Account lists, from my file? I don't want to start a new file from scratch, because too much information would be lost in doing so.
Hope someone can figure out how to do this. Thanks in advance.
