Reposting this, as the problem persists. I’m on the latest version of Quicken Classic for Mac (9.0.3).
The problem is longstanding - downloading transactions from RBC Royal Bank is a huge pain in the neck with two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled. I don’t have any similar problems with any other financial institution.
- I have 2FA enabled on my RBC Royal Bank account. Turning this off is unacceptably dangerous due to the obvious security risks.
- I have the RBC mobile app on my iPhone and use this for authentication
- When I update my RBC accounts from Quicken, here is what happens:
- I get a notification on my RBC mobile app asking me to approve the login
- I approve immediately, but get an error on the mobile app that the request has timed out
- I get a pop-up window in Quicken asking how I want to authenticate to RBC
- I select the mobile app
- I get another notification on the mobile app, and approve it
- (sometimes) I get another popup window in Quicken with an option to select “Done"
- I select Done and OK, and the transactions finally download
Note that if I opt to skip the connection, RBC locks my account, and I have to go through a process to unlock it!
When I go to “Manage authorized applications” in my RBC account, nothing is listed, and I don’t see any option to add Quicken as an authorized application.
This is nuts.
Has anyone else run into this, and is there a way to streamline the process?
Thanks
