QFX import from Wells Fargo has stopped working.

I generally import 1 month of transactions at a time. I tried importing February and I got all transactions up to the 19th. But March doesn't work a at all. No errors on screen or in the QFX log. I looked at the file but I don't see any obvious issues when comparing transactions that worked with transactions that do not work. Version R67.10

Hello @dmonti,

Thank you for letting us know you're encountering this issue. To troubleshoot, try generating a new QFX file for a different timeframe (for example, 20 Feb - 31 March) and test if that imports properly. That can sometimes correct the issue if the issue is limited to a specific timeframe.

If the issue persists, try importing the transactions into a new account instead of into the existing account. If you're able to import into a new account, you can cut/paste the transactions into the original account, then delete the new account.

Were you able to import April's transactions into the problem account?

Hi Kristina, I have tried creating a test account and a different timeframe, but same result nothing happens.

Thank you for letting us know about the test account.

Have you already tried completely deactivating all of your Wells Fargo accounts and then importing the transactions again? If not, I recommend trying the steps below. Before proceeding, please create a backup of your Quicken data file.

Deactivate account:

Select "Tools"
Select "Account list"
In the Account List, select the account you want to deactivate, and then click Edit.
In the Account Details window, click the Online Services tab.
Click Deactivate next to the service you want to disable.
Click Yes to the message confirming if you want to disable this service.
Next, select the General tab and remove the financial institution name and account number information, if present.

Steps to import QFX

Go to the File menu and select File Import → Quicken Transfer Format (.QFX) File. The Import .QFX File screen will appear.
Use the Browse button to find and select the file you want to import.
Click Open or double-click the file to import.
When prompted, choose Link to an existing account and select the correct account from the dropdown menu. (Alternatively, choose Add a new account if you are importing data for a new credit card or bank account).

After completing these steps, please let me know the results and whether the transactions import successfully.

I followed the steps. It reconnected me to Wells Fargo, filling the fields I removed before the import. But no transactions were imported. I've been doing this for years, could I have reached some sort of limit with FTIDS or something?

Thank you for taking the time to try the steps provided. I'm sorry to hear the issue is still occurring.

At this time, there is no official information indicating a limit or cumulative lifetime cap on downloaded transactions. In cases like this, the issue is often related to one of the following: transactions being downloaded into a different account, sorting or filtering within the register, or limitations in the download file itself (for example, an empty or incomplete QFX file). You can also open the QFX file in a text editor such as Notepad to confirm whether it contains transaction data or check the file size as an additional indicator.

Based on this, please try the following troubleshooting steps:

1. Has the sort order been changed in the register? Confirm that the Sort Order in your account register is by Date; just click the top of the Date column in your account register. It's likely the transactions are in your register, just not where you thought they'd be.
2. Click the Reset button at the top of the register. This will confirm that there's no filtering in your account register.
3. Try refreshing your login session: To do this, go to Help > Refresh Sign in. After completing the log-in process, trying running a One Step Update again.
4. Are these missing transactions over 90 days old? Transaction download is typically limited to the last 90 to 200 days, depending on the financial institution. If you need transaction history older than what the download contains, many banks will make this available on their website via Web Connect. To use Web Connect, you can find information here, or contact your bank.
5. Are these transactions still marked as "pending" on your bank's website? Pending transactions have been authorized by your bank but not cleared and paid from your account yet. Most banks don't allow transactions to download until the transaction clears the bank.
6. Are you using Web Connect (logging in to your bank's website to manually download transactions in Quicken)? Some banks only allow downloads to Quicken after the statement closing date, meaning that you won't see new transactions in Quicken until the statement closes. If you can't select a date range when you try to download from your bank, it means that you're only able to download new transactions after the statement closing date.
7. Was the missing transaction incorrectly matched to another transaction in the register? This is common with repeating payments made to the same payee for the same amount.
8. Have any transactions been deleted recently? Transactions won't download again after being deleted. If a transaction was deleted in error, you can re-enter it manually (if there's a large group of deleted transactions, it may also be easier to restore a backup).
9. Was the transaction moved from one account register to another? Click on All Transactions in your account bar and search for the missing transaction. If you find the transactions in an incorrect account, you can move the transactions to the correct account: just select the transaction(s), right-click, and select Move transaction(s). Select the correct account and click OK.
10. Was an older backup restored after you accepted the downloaded transaction(s)? The backup file will restore account information up to the date it was created, which may be before the missing transactions were downloaded.

Please let me know if any of these steps help or if you continue to experience the issue.

Come to think of it, I did get a new computer since the last time I imported. On the new computer I was only able to import transactions from 2/1 to 2/19 as a mentioned before. I still have the old computer(same version of quicken). On the old computer I am able to import the same file, but I get all of the transactions 2/1 thru 2/27. The old one has Windows10, new one Windows 11.

Thanks for your reply and for providing that information. Since the import worked on the Windows 10 computer, and based on your previous comments, I noticed that you tested it in a test account. However, I'm not sure whether you also tested it in a brand new Quicken data file.

If you haven't tried that yet, I recommend importing the QFX file into a new Quicken data file.

To do so:

Go to File > New Quicken File…
In the pop-up window, select New Quicken File.
Click OK.
Name the new file (for example, Test), then Save
Once the new file is created, try importing the QFX file again.

I have many accounts and years of data in my current quicken file. I want to import into my current setup. Why does it work on the old computer and not the new?

Since the file works on the old computer but not on the new one, the issue may be related to a setting on the new computer or possibly something specific to the file environment. This is only speculation on my part.

I suggest contacting Quicken Support for further assistance. They can guide you through additional troubleshooting steps in real time or escalate the case if necessary.
