Why is quicken pulling previously used register memos into downloaded transactions?

When I download transactions from three different banks, any transaction that is downloaded as a deposit pulls in a memo used one time on deposit a couple months ago. I cannot figure out what is causing this to occur and any suggestions would be appreciated. As it is now, I need to accept them and then go in and delete the memo from the transactions which is quite annoying.

If the transaction is one of your memorized payee list, cllick on edit see if it has a memorized memo line for the transaction.

I checked that. None of the saved Deposit Payees have that memo attached to them

One one of those transactions, click the Gear icon in the upper right of the register, click "Register Columns", and check "Downloaded Memo".

I don't think this issue is actually coming from the download, but it doesn't hurt to reduce the options by 1.

Then you can repeat the action and Uncheck that box to undo the original action.

Also, have you tried taking a backup and then doing a Validation of your file? Corruption could be the cause.

This is what downloaded when I run One-Step Update. I have validated the file to ensure it is not corrupt. This only started a few months ago.

The Downloaded Payee and Downloaded Memo

OK, so what do you expect the memo field to be. And, if the existing "Downloaded Memo" is wrong, that's an issue for your bank to fix and outside of Q's abilities.

I would NEVER want Q to mess around with downloaded info, other than the very limited ability to standardize things such as, for example, using renaming rules to remove a store number from my "Kroger #895" download, or changing "Amazon MKPLxyz8865" to "Amazon Marketplace".

I find it confusing that you believe that multiple banks would know that I received a refund payment for my mothers health insurance so that it could be downloaded to my registers. There is no way that multiple banks would know this when this is the exact same memo I entered for the deposit I made to my checking account. Somewhere, Quicken is applying it to downloaded transactions from multiple financial institutions for any transaction that is a deposit.

All bank accounts show Yes (Express Web Connect) or (Express Web Connect+)

Go into your Memorized Payee List, look for an entry named "Deposit" and select to Edit this entry. Now please send us an image snapshot of this entry.

Here is a copy from my memorized payee list. I am not sure why there is so much blank space. There is also a screen print from a test transaction showing my deposit entries that have been autosaved in the dropdown list

You may want to click on the Column Visibility icon in the upper right-hand corner of the MPL view, to enable showing a few more columns, Memo included. That'll make the view much more useable.

When I click the gear icon, I can only change the auto-delete times or run it now. I have been looking for how to access the other columns and haven't found it.

On the screen you show Double Click in the payee field for the memorized transaction (Deposit) and it will display all the data for that memorized transaction

Decide which, if any, of those MPLs you want to keep. Delete the others by selecting them and then clicking delete.

WHY the last one is getting picked is anyone's guess … but that's where the issue is coming from … you've got it as an Memorized Payee.

I'll give it a shot. I couldn't figure out how to show the rest of the fields, so I wasn't sure which one to delete until now.
