All my new transactions downloaded as uncategorized.

Question

I have been using this software for like a decade, and autofill rules have been a challenge since switching from the PC version to the Mac.

But i finally had MOST of the autofills working correctly, until I ran the new software update recently, and my last batch of 100s of transactions downloaded with category of 'Uncategorized'

Starting at 4/6/26 some started going uncategorized (but not all) then a higher and higher % of transactions switched over except for a few recurring (but not other recurring ones).

I changed no settings…

@ErikME  This is a known problem. In the last update (9.0), the developers fixed something which hadn't been working correctly with the setting which enables/disables auto-renaming and auto-categorization — and in the process broke something else. Supposedly, it works correctly currently if you enable cloud Sync (in Settings > Mobile, Web & Alerts). This is what @Quicken Laura is suggesting above. However, many of us prefer to have Sync turned off to avoid sync errors which can result in erroneous changes to old transactions. The developers said that they would have an additional fix so that auto-categorization works correctly even with Sync turned off. As with all promised enhancements/fixes, we don't know when that will be delivered. Since version 9.0 came out in April, the next version (9.1) would typically be delivered before the end of this month, so you might hang in there for another couple weeks to see if this is fully fixed when 9.1 comes out.

I restored from a recent backkup, but this connected services part was missed and now it won't let me try again due to the quicken web limitations.

But the issue isn't about using the WEB to improve the quality - these are categories i've personally created rules for that have worked for months / years. Why would they have stopped applying?

Thank you for reaching out and sharing what you’re experiencing.

I recommend checking your settings to ensure nothing was inadvertently turned off.

Cloud Sync:

Go to Quicken > Settings > Mobile, Web & Alerts and ensure Sync is turned on.

Connected Services:

Go to Quicken > Settings > Connected Services and confirm that Automatically improve the quality of downloaded payee names and categories is enabled.

Both options should be turned on. If they are currently disabled, please enable them and let me know if you notice any change.
