$0.01 transaction in "account overview" but not in the register.

quicken shows a $0.01 transaction in my "account overview", but that transaction does not exist in my account register. how do i fix this? The $0.01 transaction is incorrect and should be deleted, but i cannot find a way to do so.

I did "file validate" and "Super validate" and "Rebuild investing lots". None of that helped.

Also, there are no placeholder entries in this account.

If you are referring to the Lot dated 1/5, the register should have a matching Buy or Div or Int transaction on that day.

Do make sure the register is properly sorted by Date.

Yes I am referring to the lot dated 1/5.

The register does not have a matching entry on that day; hence my dilemma.

I have also searched the register for a $0.01 transaction and there are none in this account on any dates.

Unless someone else has a better idea, I suggest you contact Quicken Support and let them share your screen to review the situation in greater detail. I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Does the account register have any transactions for that 1/5 date? Perhaps you bought 50 shares on 1/5 and later sold 49.99 shares from the 1/5 lot? That would leave the 1/5 lot showing with .01 remaining.

If there is a 0.01 discrepancy between brokerage-reported holdings and Quicken holdings, I'm leaning more towards a rounding error where one or more transactions were calculated with fractional cents. When added together, the total is rounded up or down causing a 0.01 discrepancy.

Now all you have to do is to find out which actual transaction was not calculated correctly as #shares (to two decimal places) * 1.00 = total amount without fractional cents.
Remember that we are working with a MMF that should always be traded as #shares to two decimal places and calculated at price = 1.00, without fractional cents.

I found the error. It went back to be two transaction errors back in October that did not affect my account balance. One was a sale that was for 103,999.99 shares that was in my register as 104,000.00 and a second transaction that was reported as a share purchase of 0.01 at zero cost, when it should have been reported as a dividend.

Once corrected, the phantom Jan 5 $0.01 magically disappeared. Why it showed up on Jan 5 makes no sense.
