Backup files not working

I back up my Quicken files daily to an external device. Today, Quicken returned a message "file not backed up." However, when checking/accessing the backup file directly (not via Quicken), the file has been updated and is larger than the previous backup size. Accessing the file via Quicken shows no change from the previous backup.

Has anyone else encountered this?

Any suggestions on why this is happening and how to resolve this problem?

There's 2 different files with a QDF suffix. The one that you can see in Win File Manager is actually an "envelope" of sorts that contains, among other things, another QDF file that holds your actual data.

SO, try doing a FILE, Restore (to another name so as to not overwrite your current file) and see if the transactions you expect are there.

Also, is there enough space available on your external device to hold approx TWICE your file size? That much is temporarily needed for a backup.
