I was looking for information about downloading transactions into my register, and came across this:
If my data is kept private, then all is well, right? Still, I thought I'd check out the privacy policy. And here's what I found:
So basically, my data is kept private except that they'll share it with whoever they want. For example, "service provider" - that's any company they choose to do business with. Even if the business they do with that company consists of buying and selling my data and data about me.
I know, I shouldn't be concerned. After all, what's the possible value of knowing about every transaction in my life with any company, any web site, any political organization, any friends or relatives?
They don't even have to have that relationship - the last category suggests that a company can buy 10 shares of Intuit stock and become a part owner, and Intuit will share my info, to be handled according to that unknown "owner's" policies, which may or may not exist.
Nah, nothing to be concerned about. I'm probably overreacting.
Hey Quicken - how about a REAL privacy policy, in which the data about me and my transactions is limited EXCLUSIVELY to me? Not known to anyone you do business with, and even not known to you? You could use that policy as a key differentiator in the market. If the policy provided confidence, it might even justify a higher price for the subscription.
I'll hold my breath.
