Can anyone explain how Quicken calculates in an investment performance report

Where they get the balance from in the Investments Column?

I made an Investment Performance - year to Date.

The balance showing in the Investment Column does not match the actual real balance of the account in the Quicken Investing view.

The more I look at various aspects of the Quicken software, the more dubious I am of its workings. And God know where AI will take us. I continue to monitor all using Excel spreadsheets and my actual account statements.

To begin with in answering your question, I suggest you subtotal by account, show detail, and customize to include all securities including hidden). If you then need to or want to slim down to a single account or security to see the data flow better you can.

For comparison, you might pull up an account balances report, also YTD, with an interval of year, and just the investment accounts.

You should then see that the IPR Beginning Market Value 1/1/2026 corresponds to the ABR 12/31/2025 value. Similarly, the IPR returns column, Ending market value should correspond to the ‘today’ balance on the ABR.

The detailed information on the IPR will then document the flow of additional investments and returns between the starting and ending dates.
