Updated Quicken Classic today (6/30/26). The program freezes and becomes totally unresponsive for minutes and then responds only to reoccur repeatedly.
I am having teh same problem with one of my bigger Quicken files
i downloaded a manual update and it fixed everything.
Quicken for Windows: Manual Patch Update | Quicken
Hello @Pat Marshall,
Thank you for updating your post and sharing what worked for you to resolve the issue. I’m glad to hear that installing the Manual Patch helped resolve the freezing behavior.
Please note that the current Manual Patch will revert Quicken back to R67.10, as the latest R68.25 release has not yet been added to the Manual Patch article.
@sjaacob, since you mentioned experiencing the same issue, you may want to try installing the Manual Patch as well to see if it resolves the freezing in your Quicken file.
Thank you!
Can confirm. I'm running a Surface Pro 11 with a SnapDragon processor. I installed the above update this morning and EVERY. SINGLE. ACTION. I. TAKE. cycles for anywhere from 30-90 seconds before my system comes back to life. SUper Validated the file, no difference.
I do have a very large (310 MB) QDF file. But before this update have never had response time in excess of 5 seconds.
I have just installed the manual patch… it looks like it has rolled me back to the May update. Performance is back to what it should be. Disappointing, because the Qualified Dividend separation was a function I've wanted for a long time
Same here, but I suspect Quicken will release a new update soon.
Same here, but I suspect Quicken will release a new update soon. However, i am sending this a day later and the program still prompts me to update to R68.25 despite this issue. I will not update until I am reassured.
This morning when I signed on, Quicken prompted me for an automatic update back to the new release. Didn't even have the option to not download, only whether or not to allow changes to my system. Now I'm having to reapply the manual patch. I hope this isn't going to be a daily thing until it's fixed. I've been using QUicken since about 1995. I use it multiple times across the day
Update…I reinstalled the manual patch this morning. Whereas yesterday the manual patch appeared to roll back to the May release, this morning the manual patch appears to update to the june release that was (and remains) problematic. My system is back to dragging with 90 second response times in quicken. Help!!!
The action screen in my update summary says a new version is available, but you do not have to click on View Update to continue using Quicken with the older version. I am attaching what it looks like, but I did not update and will not until I know the issue is resolved. here is a pic of what I think prompted you to update.
@cejacksoniii the comment linked below has instructions for rolling back to a prior patch version:
Same issue 27.1.68.25
Same problem for me. Manual patch updated to the latest problem build and everything takes forever to load. Unable to continue my work.
File size is 214mb, locally saved on C drive, cleared cache and did a super validate - nothing works.
This patch will not roll back. The current patch file updates to the latest build (the one with the problems).

The Quicken site that has all the patches to chose from is:
https://www.quicken.com/support/reinstalling-and-patching-your-quicken-subscription-version-after-your-membership-has/#section-windows-3
Go to the Releases section of the article and download the version you want.
R67.71 is what I used and it solved the problem. I don't recall, but I think it will install in Quicken without opening Quicken which would resolve the issue some are having with being unable to overcome R68.25 making it so the Quicken program cannot be altered. Good call on finding all the patches on the link you posted.
Thank you, @BK - this helped! I rolled back to R67 and the issue appears fixed now.
