Two Questions. 1) How fast is the Quicken cloud backup process? The cloud icon spins for at least 10 minutes. 2) Ultimately, the backup fails. Why is this happening?

I had a conversation with a Quicken phone rep located in Guatemala. He asked: 1) about the file size I was trying to back up to the Quicken cloud (453,200KB), and 2) the age of some of my oldest transactions (many date back to 2008 and 2009). He thought my backup problem may be the file size, but the age (18 years) of some of the transactions does present a problem for the Quicken Cloud backup process.
Does this make sense to you or to anyone? For me, his reasoning does not make sense.
It makes sense to me that file SIZE would impact speed. Age of data in the file doesn't I don't understand, unless it's related to file size … older files presumably have more data. But a file with a single transaction, dated 2000, should have no problem being backed up.
That said, your file does seem, to me, to be pretty big. My file has data going back to 1987, and is just under 137,000K.
Do you store transaction attachments in the file? That could explain the file size. I don't use attachments. Instead, when needed, I store the documents in an external file manager, and just reference the document in the memo field of the transaction.
But, to your specific issue, are there any error messages or codes when the backup fails? How are you doing this backup? What space do you have available at the destination?
My external drive has a capacity of 1 TB. It does not have a problem storing my backup file, which is 453,000KB. It is also a fast process, 10/15 seconds at most.
There ARE limits to how much can be stored via Quicken Online Backup. Your file is well within the 5GB limit for a single file … but what's the TOTAL stored there?
It would only be the Quicken data that is stored on the Q Cloud backup file and any previous iterations of the current file.
Your input is helpful, but it does not explain why I can't back up my Q data files to the Cloud.
I was hoping that if I subscribed to the Quicken Cloud program, my Q data file would be backed up automatically and not on my computer. Never know when it might go belly up.
I should be able to manually back up the Quicken Data files to my external drive and, if needed, recover a copy from the external drive with the help of another computer should my computer go belly up. Accordingly, I should forget about the Q cloud program, Correct? Your thoughts.
