Missing Transaction after April with recent update

I have had Quicken for decades but the last year has almost been unbearable. All of a sudden I have to Reset Accounts about every month and I am frequently missing transactions. For the first time I have had to manually download from my bank (BOA) and upload into Quicken because April was missing and not downloading (even with reset). I finally got everything square and it fails again. I have had to do backup daily because of this. Now, with a recent software update (R68.28), all my transactions disappeared past April 2nd!!!! I tried to restore with yesterdays backup and these transactions are still missing. There are no filters and it is effecting all my accounts. WTF!!!!

What's happening that's causing these frequent resets? I have no idea how long it's been since I had to reset an account.

And, product updates don't touch your data, so something else is causing your lost transactions? Could you have accidentally opened an old file?

I have no idea why I have frequent resets. As I mentioned, I have had Quicken for over a decade and these issues have only recently occurred. Quicken is partially blaming BOA. I am not opening old files. I operate the same way as I always did. Why after a software would I be missing data?

There are 3 possible reasons for missing data:

You opened an older file, rather than the current file
You have a Filter set in the account(s)
File corruption.

None of those have anything to do with program updates … which don't touch your data file.

A fourth possibility is you have your Quicken data file on OneDrive. This can cause missing data and file corruption.

Agreed, but isn't this just a variation of my 3rd point?

I have it on a Google drive. Is file corruption known on that as well?

While it's completely safe to backup to Google, OneDrive, Carbonite, etc … it's not recommended to actually store your data file on ANY media that's not directly connected to your PC, even on a networked drive that's sitting next to your PC.

Any simple hiccup, while Q is accessing the file, can result in irretrievable data loss. Such doesn't happen automatically, or predictably, but it's happened often enough, and to enough people, that it's just not a good idea.

Thanks! I move it to my local drive and backup to my Google drive. We'll see what happens
