Why is Frost Bank requiring MFA with every OSU lately?

It seems that Frost Bank has started requiring MFA with almost every OSU lately. It seems to have started after the most recent Quicken update but I'm not certain of that. Is anyone else experiencing this and/or know how to fix it? It's annoying and Frost is my only FI that is doing this.

That would be ENTIRELY the decision of Frost Bank. Ask them.

Some financial institutions have updated their security requirements, which can cause Quicken users to see Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) prompts more frequently than before. Quicken does not determine when MFA is required or which verification method is used. Those authentication rules are set by your financial institution and may require MFA every time, only occasionally, or whenever unusual activity is detected.

Thanks for your reply. I contacted Frost Bank today through both their Online Banking Support email and their customer contact form regarding the recent MFA requirement for Quicken. I plan on calling them as well.

If more of us Frost customers contact them and explain how this affects our Quicken workflow, hopefully the feedback will encourage Frost to reconsider or reduce the repeated MFA requirement.

yes, same experience for me required 2FA every one-step update with Frost. No other bank I use has this issue.

None of the other banks I use has this issue either. It's a major pain. I like Frost other than this issue. Please call and email Frost if you get a chance. Thanks

It looks like I've solved it. At least for today…

I logged into the Frost website on my browser, where they also wanted me to clear MFA. Once I had cleared that, both Quicken and the Frost website open up afterwards without further complication.

Note, however, that there's an option on their website which would force MFA every time:
Log onto Frost Online Banking.
Click Account Services | Security Center | Extra security at login.
(You want that turned off, but it is by default, so this probably wasn't your problem.)

I am able to log in to the Frost website without MFA, but MFA is still required every time I try to update Frost in Quicken. I just now tried both again to confirm, and that's still what's happening… MFA is not required on the website but MFA is required for Frost every time to update in Quicken. The 2FA toggle is turned off in the Frost Security Center.
