problem of reinstalling quicken deluxe 2016

Hi,

I got Windows 11 recently and tried to install Quicken Deluxe 2016 from a disc. It seemed the installation went through okay. But when I tried to run the program to open a Quicken data file, I got a screen asking me to sign in with Intuit ID and Password. I use my ID and pswd but see an error message "An unknown error occurred. Please try to connect later." I tried to fix the problem by clicking the "forget your password?" link, but got a webpage that says "Check if there is a typo in quicken.intuit.com". It seems that the program tries to access the empty online address "quicken.intuit.com". My question is how I can bypass this sign-in screen and open my data file.

The issue is that the registration servers for 2014 → 2017 Quicken no longer exist, so you can't register, compounded in your case since it is trying to connect to Intuit that no longer owns Quicken.

If you still have access to the prior system with a running copy of Quicken, there is a way of copying Quicken's config.ini file to the new installation to bypass that registration.

But to do that, you have to be able to install the old Quicken, apply the last patch available for that version and do the file replacement prior to running Quicken the first time.

The patches used to be available on a private website, but it was forced to be taken down due to copyright issues, which was a great loss to the user community.
