I'm using Quicken Classic for Mac with a Fidelity brokerage account and I'm looking for the recommended Quicken Mac practice for handling a downloaded corporate reorganization.
A mandatory ExxonMobil corporate reorganization (CUSIP change) downloaded from Fidelity as two Payment/Deposit transactions:
At the same time:
- Quicken already shows the correct replacement ExxonMobil security
- The account still has the correct holding of 50 shares
- There are no missing shares after the download
The account also contains a placeholder transaction from 2024, but that was created when I first added the Fidelity account to Quicken after the shares were already owned. I don't believe it's related to this 2026 corporate action.
My question is not how to edit or delete transactions.
My question is:
What is the recommended way to handle these downloaded Payment/Deposit transactions in Quicken Classic for Mac?
Should they:
- Remain in the register as downloaded?
- Be deleted because Quicken already updated the holdings?
- Be replaced with different investment transaction(s)?
- Be handled some other way?
I'm looking for the approach that keeps the investment register, cash balance, and portfolio history accurate.
If anyone has seen this specific Fidelity download behavior or knows Quicken Mac's intended handling of these transactions, I'd appreciate your guidance.
Thank you.
