G/L Account Numbers

Q. Is it possible, that Quicken like Quickbooks, can have G/L Account Numbers (Categories and Accounts) along with the Name of the Account? Also, can it have the possibility that one Account Number (Categories & Account) is not duplicated with a previous G/L Account Number? Below is an example I hope Quicken produces in its software development improvements. Please advise when there is a patch or firmware update, so that I can begin to utilize the feature(s). I am G/L Account Number driven. Also, have the capability of creating Sub-Categories from the Main Category.

OF COURSE your account names can begin with numbers. But those numbers won't have any meaning (any hierarchy) in Q. That's just not a current feature in Q.

What's stopping you from doing that now?

I’ll suggest it is not possible that Quicken, Inc. will alter their account and category structure as you request. That you are General Ledger / Account Number driven makes you the exact opposite of the demographic Quicken was created for. That target demographic did not want an obscure meaningless numbers based structure; they wanted simplicity and real world relevance - my checking account at Local bank.

Please advise when there is a patch or firmware update, so that I can begin to utilize the feature(s).

Don’t hold your breath. Won’t happen (IMO).
