Quicken for Windows Classic Deluxe Version R68.31, Build 27.1.68.31.
About a month ago (mid June 2026), North Carolina State Employees Credit Union (NC SECU) did a big "upgrade" to their online access and added 2-factor authentication; afterward, Quicken couldn't connect for several days. Eventually, access got restored (Strangely, now the 2FA feature is gone and updating is similar to before the upgrade, no additional step necessary).
HOWEVER, for the past month, my checking account almost never reconciles correctly with NC SECU. Most of the time, Quicken will have to do a completely random balance adjustment of several hundred dollars to reconcile my balance. Sometimes it is a debit; other times as a credit. It swings WILDLY back and forth between these every few days. I no longer have any confidence that my balance really is what I think it is.
Also, less often, a transaction comes across as cleared, but when the reconcile window comes up in Quicken, the balance is off by that exact amount. Then if I uncheck that transaction so it no longer shows as cleared, then the balance matches. I wait for it to "catch up" over the next few days, but it never does.
I stopped using NC SECU's Billpay so there are fewer transactions happening, but I still use my debit card, and I still have some bills that get automatically drafted by the payee.
When I notified NC SECU about this on 6/23/26, first they told me to change from Direct Connect to Web Connect. I told them no thank you; it's been working fine for many years as Direct Connect, and I do not want to have to download and import a .QFX file every time I want to reconcile my checking account. Then they replied again and said:
"Thank you for your message. We apologize for the inconvenience. Implementation of the new Member Access and Mobile app has not been fully completed. We have been made aware that we have a few outstanding issues with different external account connections that are being diligently worked to get corrected. Once full implementation has been completed, we hope that these issues will be corrected."
This is REALLY frustrating. Please advise a fix. On my end, what I have done is turned OFF the ability to download pending transactions. That was never really helpful anyway, but it didn't fix this issue anyway. The only other thing I've done is tried to use my checking account less so it can settle out, but that never happens. Example: on 6/24 I bought something for $46.52 with my debit card. The next day, I did a Quicken One Step Update; that transaction got downloaded and showed as cleared, but then my balance was off by $46.52. So I uncleared it manually, and then it balanced. Today (6/27) I just did one step update again. Even though it did not download any new transactions since 6/25, now my balance is off, and Quicken entered an adjustment debit of $242.62. WHAT. THE. [Removed - Language]. I cannot manage my finances reliably like this. PLEASE assist. Thank you.
