Request New Report that shows totals per financial institution [Edited]

I had Quicken decades ago and, in some ways, miss it.

Can you develop a report that lists all of my bank and financial institution account balances? In other words, it would list all bank accounts and their balances, all investment institutions and their balances.

The reasons for this new report are several: one is to know what my account balances are at a glance, and another is that I want to be able to evaluate how the institution is doing as a whole not individual accounts held by that institution.

Can Quicken develop such a report?

I don't believe I made my point/request well enough. Here is what I meant:

Feedback #1 — Bring Back and Expand Reporting by Financial Institution

Suggested title: Financial Institution Summary and Historical Reporting

I have used Quicken for approximately 30 years, and I recall an earlier version having a report or view that allowed me to see my assets organized by financial institution. I used this feature frequently and would very much like to see it restored and expanded.

Current Quicken reports do an excellent job of organizing information by individual account. However, after many years a user can accumulate numerous accounts, and it becomes difficult to remember which financial institution manages which account.

More importantly, the financial institution is often the level at which the user can make meaningful decisions. I cannot control the day-to-day performance of individual transactions or investments, but I can decide whether I want to continue using a particular bank, brokerage firm, investment manager, or other institution.

I suggest adding a Financial Institution Summary that would:

List each financial institution and the combined balance of all accounts associated with it.
Allow the institution to be expanded to show its individual accounts.
Show each institution's percentage of total assets.
Show balances by institution over time, with graphs and selectable date ranges.
Where appropriate, show beginning balance, deposits/withdrawals, investment gain/loss, ending balance, and rate of return.
Permit comparison of institutions over selected periods.
Provide a table showing Account → Financial Institution → Connection Method → Last Successful Download → Current Balance.
Permit user-defined grouping where several institutions or service providers actually belong to one larger financial relationship.
Allow printing and export to PDF and Excel/CSV, and preferably Word.

I would also suggest incorporating this information into the One Step Update screen. Since One Step Update already communicates with financial institutions, the completed update could show:

Institution | Previous Balance | Current Balance | Change | Last Update

Clicking an institution could display its accounts or open a historical balance report.

This would turn the update process into a useful financial-management tool rather than simply showing whether downloads succeeded.

For long-term Quicken users, the question is not merely “What accounts do I have?” It is also “Which institutions manage my money, how much does each manage, and how have those relationships performed over time?”

I believe restoring and modernizing institution-level reporting would answer that question very effectively.
