Seeking ideas on why an account balance in the Account Balance Report does not match the Account register balance. Running Q Classic on Windows 11, R68.31. I have 30+ years of transactions. I believe difference is only seen in one checking account (out of 20+ accounts tracked). I do not reconcile the account, just track major deposits and withdrawals, and make occasional grouped or true-up entries to account for smaller deposits and withdrawals.
Table below shows that beginning on 2019 there is a difference. It varies somewhat through 2022, and since 2023 the difference has remain the same at $3,988.
| Difference: Account Balance Report minus Register | YoY Change |
|---|
12/31/2018 | $0 | $0 |
12/31/2019 | $2,263 | $2,262 |
12/31/2020 | $2,901 | $639 |
12/31/2021 | $4,519 | $1,617 |
12/31/2022 | $3,988 | -$531 |
12/31/2023 | $3,988 | $0 |
Seeking any ideas on what type of transactions could be the cause of this difference, and how to resolve. I've seen various posts but none I've found seem to match my scenario. I've run file validation and all checks out fine (a few notes about possible missing splits in other brokerage accounts). I've not attempted any file repair. I've never "closed out" or removed any accounts that are now $0… I just hide or exclude them from reports. Even if I include all accounts, same results for the problem checking account.
Thank in advance for ideas.
