Recovering my 6 year old Fidelity 401k account information in Quicken for Mac

My fidelity 401k account within my quicken for Mac file got corrupted last year and I've been unable to recover this account information. All of my many other accounts are ok.

I can download my historical information in csv and qif format from fidelity but I'm been unable to import this information into quicken for Mac. google, chatgpt, and copilot have been useless. Each confidently makes recommendations that all fail. I've even used them to generate python scripts, all fail.

Does anyone have an idea how to help me.

QWeb isn't a complete backup of your data file … it only contains partial info. So, it can't be used to recreate your damaged account.

Do you not have other backups that you can use?

NOTE, however, that a File Restore brings in the entire file … not just single accounts … so you'd need to either re-download, or re-input, anything that happened after the backup was created.

BUT ALSO, file corruption in QMac is so rare that it's almost unheard of. So, how did this account get corrupted? In what way is it corrupted? Maybe there are other paths available.

I'm going to need another option because my backup files were damaged. I need to recover from something direct from the Fidelity or using csv and/or qif.

The file got corrupted by a know bug with Fidelity and quickens inability to handle multiple cash account types and my multual fund 12 to 1 split last summer, and them by me attempting a kluge to fix it.

Co-Pilot and other AI tools all confidently suggested techniques to recover the date using csv or qif files but all recommendations failed. The worst part was the same AI tools confidently told me what their suggestions failed after following their step by step directions.

So, your file isn't "corrupted", it is just the data within your Fidelity account is wrong.

You can listen to AI, or you can listen to experienced humans who have been using Quicken for Mac for decades. Your choice.

You are not going to be importing Investment accounts into Quicken for Mac via CSV or QIF. Any mention of that within Quicken for Mac is not for investment accounts.

If it were I, I would setup your Fidelity account as a newly imported account and see what you get. If it is accurate with the limited history, great! You can always flesh in older data if you so choose.

Perhaps you can concoct some back door method to get the data in (which I don't know of), but you likely spend more time trying to do that. Do a basic import into a new account, and see if it is correct. If so, then move backwards-even if you have to type in all the older stuff. You will save more time in the end.
