Two versions of Quicken on one laptop [Edited]

I have Business & Personal Quicken on one computer and personal Quicken on another computer. I was wondering if I can run the business and personal on one computer with two separate files. Thinking of running the business on a separate Windows user login and the personal on a different Windows user login.

Has anyone done this successfully?

AI says it can be done (login will determine the Quicken version), just want to confirm and get a 2nd data point.

I ran small business awhile before retiring, but combined all my business & personal into the Quicken B&P into the single program, didn't separate them. Guess?? Maybe your using separate programs for 2 individual people? I haven't tried running two separate Quicken Versions on the same computer, using separate files, with separate logins, for each separate Quicken Version 🤷‍♂️ I have enough problems running one Quicken Version to keep me occupied 😂 Sincerely though, good luck. Maybe some Super Users will step in and lend you a hand? 😉

Yes, you can use two separate files on one computer. With the Business and Personal version, or any other version of Quicken, you can have multiple data files at any given time, and you can easily switch between them. You will simply move both files onto the computer you wish to use Quicken on.

Here is a Support Article with some helpful tips and information on moving your file to another computer. The first video in the article will take you through the steps.

Once you have opened both files on the same computer, you can easily switch between the two by going to File. Near the bottom of the File menu, the four most recent files you have viewed will be listed. Clicking on any of them will open that file. #1 is the file you are currently in, and #2 is the one you were in last.

Please note that we do not recommend moving your data files frequently. If you want to use two separate computers to view these files, the best option is to use Quicken on the Web. If you need or want more information on how to do this, let us know!

Wow, MOD Quicken Alyssa, Thank you for prompt response. You're really on the ball, especially for a Sunday morning. Good to know information on how to switch and use multiple data files on same computer. Much appreciated. Recommend to your Super that you get a 'bonus' this coming paycheck!

You already have both editions of Quicken installed. There is only ONE subscription Quicken program, the license decides which features (edition) are available.
You can switch between editions by going thru EditPreferencesQuicken Id, "login as different user".
To prevent hiccups in your separate data files, make sure that they are both uniquely named and switch between them using this process.
Create a dummy data file named something like go_between.qdf with no accounts
in it, it is just for transitioning between the two Quicken IDs.
Now, you do NOT want to open your personal data file while the Quicken program is setup for the Club's ID and the same holds true for opening the Club's data file with your personal ID.
So, that is where the dummy data file comes into play. Lets say you are using your data file and now want to work with the Club's data file.

Open the dummy data file using either FileOpen Quicken file or picking it from the recent file list on the File menu.
Do EditPreferencesQuicken Id and then "login as different user" using the Club's ID.
Open the Club's data file using either FileOpen Quicken file or picking it from the recent file list on the File menu.
Do what ever you needed to do.

Now, when you want to work with your personal data file, follow the same procedure except substitute your personal data file and Quicken ID where you used the Club's information.
I suggest always returning the state of registration of Quicken to your personal Quicken ID and only have it in "Club mode" when it needs to be so that you don't inadvertently open your personal data file with the Club ID which would
require you do do steps 1 & 2 again as 5 & 6 using personal ID.
