I am seeing an error with Quicken (Version R68.31 Build 27.1.68.31, Classic Deluxe for Windows) in the reporting of HON Lot quantities using the “Holdings” button from the Register view. This error appeared after manually adding back my post-spin HON shares. The Quicken Support Line could find nothing they could do, so they said I should post this issue on the Community Board so the developers could get a look at the apparent bug.
Before the details on the issue – at the insistence of the Quicken Support Line folks, the data file was put thru the “Validate and Repair file with the Rebuild investing lots” option several times including right after removing the pre-spin HON and then again after I added in the 3 lots of HON post-spin and the 3 lots of HONA. So, this issue has nothing to do with corrupted data files.
Here is the Register view for this account,
On 6/28 I removed all 250 shares of HON (this is prior to the reverse split and spinout of HONA). You will also see on 6/28 an entry for RtrnCapX to remove the leftover cost stored in Quicken which resulted from another Quicken issue which is not the topic of this thread. This was the fix suggested by Quicken Support Line folks (namely the cost value calculated on the 6/28 Remove 250 HON generated by Quicken was $-16,161.71, which I cannot edit, as it is generated by the software. But the real cost of the 3 lots in Quicken’s database (and in actuality) is $18,322.13!!! As Quicken Support could not find anyway to fix/correct the $16K number, they suggested use RtrnCapX to manually remove the excess cost shown in Security View when it showed 0 HON shares…why the value generated for the 250 share removal was off by $2160.42 is a mystery to all!)
Anyway, after the 6/28 entries, the values shown for HON in “Security View” shows 0 shares and $0 cost. GOOD
Note, the HONA total line for 125 shares and lot details are correctly displayed. GOOD.
However, look at the HON parts. The total line is actually correct, at 125 shares at $9423.42 (just like I entered in the register view). But look at the lot details…The 4/21/14 and 6/18/14 lots of 25 are also correct…the 4/30/13 lot is NOT. It is now magically showing 62.5 at $4254.36 instead of the 75 at $5105.23 I entered! WRONG.
The sub view by lots does not even equal the total line???. Interestingly, $5105.23 / 75shr * 62.5shr = $4254.36….so Quicken is using the correct per share cost; it’s the Quantity of shares that is actually displayed wrong.
So just to double check I pull up the Security Detail View for HON and I see,
Correct total of 125 shares and cost $9423.42 and all the transactions are correct just like I entered into the register.
So, I ask myself, is this just something I could ignore? I decided to see what would happen if I started to enter a Sell of 100 HON shares. In doing that, I go to specify which lots to sell and I see this,
There's that 62.5 shares quantity again. I would never be able to sell all 125 shares as this screen thinks there is only 112.5 shares.
I have deleted the 75 HON entry and re-entered fresh to no avail.
HELP!
