Just wanted to add that I'm having this issue too. Version R68.31. This usually happens for scheduled transfers and the Category of the erroneously created transactions are not cleared out or changed in any way from what the correct transactions show, but there is no matching transaction on the other side of a transfer. It always seems to happen only in my Bank of America checking account, though that is also the only account that I have scheduled transactions being paid from.
I saw someone mention something about being old vs new scheduled reminders and I'm not sure where the distinction would be there, but the case that just happened this morning was my mortgage payment and that was created in 2023, which doesn't seem very old compared to the BoA checking account register that this happened in dates back to 2002. I'm a software developer myself, and I know how crazy hard it can be to diagnose bugs like this that only happen "out in the wild" with data files that have many decades worth of information in them. One other thing to point out about this specific case is that the mortgage payment is due on the 15th of each month but it usually takes like 3 or 4 days before it hits my checking account. And I manually enter the scheduled transaction several weeks prior to the due date as a way of marking that I have gone to the mortgage company's site and scheduled the payment (their autopayment options don't allow for adding a little extra toward the principal, so I have to do it manually). This is also just a scheduled reminder, not an online bill. Not sure if that helps or anything.
Come to think of it though, all of my credit cards are setup as online bills (though hardly any of them work and they just always show "Awaiting next bill" all the time even though it's supposed to be updating them on every OCU) and I know I've seen this issue happen at least once or twice with my credit card payments.
I doubt that adding more random logs would help anything at this point, so I'll skip that. But if you need a volunteer for beta testing fixes, sign me up. 😄
Thank you for sharing what you are experiencing with us!
Your situation sounds different from the one discussed in the thread you originally commented in, so I've moved it to its own thread.
I have some follow-up questions for you:
You mentioned that your bills show "Awaiting Next Bill". This is a Known Issue, and our teams are investigating it. We don't currently have an ETA for when it will be resolved. The best way to be notified of updates to the situation is to bookmark the alert linked above in blue.
