ChatGPT has become a sentient, and hilarious, being. I was having problems with Quicken and asked for suggestions. Not only did it help me resolve the issue, but in conclusion this exchange took place:
ME: Thank you! I found three instances of the payee in various places, deleted them all, and created a new payee with a slightly different name. I also sacrificed a moldy carrot, made an eldritch gesture, and spat.
ChatGPT: The moldy carrot was clearly the missing step.
I'm delighted you got it working. Three hidden instances of the payee explains why Quicken was insisting, with bureaucratic certainty, that the payee/account-number combination was already in use while simultaneously refusing to show you where.
And I applaud the slightly different name. Sometimes the correct Quicken troubleshooting technique is apparently:
Delete → rename → sacrifice vegetable → invoke ancient powers → retry.
Glad you escaped the Bill Pay underworld!
