Bank of America - Transaction Import Options

I haven't download my account since December of last year. So now I find that I have to have direct connect. That's okay, but it can't download more than 30 days.

I tried downloading an CSV file and converting it to a QFX file. The financial institution is not recognized. I tried a file that I had downloaded last year and which successfully imported. It has the same financial institution issue.

Whar values should I use for this:

By the way, I have deactivated direct connect for this account. No change in result.

I see that other people have had issues with downloads from BOA. Why did they stop allowing a QFX download? Everybody else has one.

A "QFX download" is known, in Q, as being Express Web Connect(+) and BofA DOES still support that.

It was Direct Connect that was discontinued, and that was BofA's decision … not Q's. You'd need to ask them Why.

The first one is probably your best bet.

Also there is one BOA FI that allows only Web Connect but I think for investment accounts only

@NotACPA A QFX download refers to Web Connect, not Express Web Connect +. Bank of America discontinued both Direct Connect and Web Connect. The only remaining BofA download options are Express Web Connect + via One Step Update or Update Now and export to Excel/CSV.

mshiggins - would 10546 work? The FI file indicates it supports WC.

@Sceptic the problem is, BofA no longer has the option to download a QFX file. So the OP would need a CSV to QFX converter and have to edit the FI number in the converted QFX file. Likely easier to get the CSV import working.

Thanks for your replies. I finally just used the csv import. I asked copilot to do the conversion for me. It handled three csv files at a time and put the required headers on. I then had to manually set payments to my bank account, so they matched up.

BOA only allows one month of download at a time, unlike all other banks that I have accounts with. All the others have "Year to Date". So I had to do this with 8 csv files.

Quicken requires the columns to be in an exact order. So the csv files had to be rearranged, as well as headers changed. Copilot did this admirably.

Interesting that other programs(e.g. Word) allow you to match up headers with the required headers, so the files don't have to be altered.
