What does STATUS_TERMINATION_TIMEOUT mean?

Question

On MacOs 26.2 with Q 9.2.0 while attempting a One Step Update, this error message is seen. Prior to this, there was trouble reauthorizing, which appeared to be resolved by disconnecting all affected accounts and adding them again.

It has been over a month since this challenge started. I send in Error Reports but hear nothing back. What does STATUS_TERMINATION_TIMEOUT mean?

What the error specifically reflects

Based on Quicken’s own community posts:

* The error appears during One Step Update or account reauthorization attempts.
* It is associated with Quicken’s aggregator state showing things like:* {"reason":"emptyAggregators","state":"notAggregating"}

* It is often paired with messages such as:“Connection to <institution> is unavailable right now. Please try again later.”
* It is seen across multiple institutions (Wealthfront, PayPal Mastercard, others) when the aggregator cannot complete the refresh cycle.

In other words, the aggregator session never successfully started or never received data, so Quicken terminates the attempt after a timeout threshold.

What it does not mean

* It does not indicate corruption in your Quicken Mac data file.
* It does not mean your Mac terminated the app.
* It does not mean your credentials are wrong (though reauthorization issues can precede it).

Why it happens

Typical causes include:

* The financial institution’s server or API is slow or temporarily unavailable.
* Quicken’s aggregator cannot establish a stable session.
* A reauthorization token is stale or partially invalid.
* The institution’s data feed is undergoing maintenance or an outage.

This aligns with cases where users report the error disappearing after retrying later.

Practical steps that usually resolve it

* Retry later — many users report the connection working again after a few hours.
* Disconnect and re‑add the affected account (only if the error persists for >24 hours).
* Ensure the account is fully reauthorized if the institution recently changed its login method.
* Check Quicken’s service alerts for your institution — many STATUS_TERMINATION_TIMEOUT cases correspond to known outages.
* Send a problem report (you already do this; Quicken does not reply directly but uses them for diagnostics).

@onlyjohn a search of the error text you mentioned sorted by most recent may help you find more info on the error. It would also help if you named the financial institution you are having trouble with.
