PNC Bank download shows Unknown Security and O shares

After re-establishing my connection with PNC Bank because of a change in the connection method, I downloaded a number of transactions. There were 64 purchases of stock. Most of them were new stocks to me, and I added them to the security list when prompted. I confirmed they are there. However, the transactions for these new stocks all came through as Unidentified Security with 0 shares but the proper dollar amount. The few transactions that were not new stocks, listed the stock name but the transaction still showed 0 new shares added but still had a dollar amount. I have seen some old posts about Fidelity having a similar issue but this is the first time for me with PNC. These are long established accounts but with a new connection. I did download a spreadsheet of the transactions from PNC and it looks like the transactions are correct.

Please let me know what to do. It looks like I may have to manually edit all these transactions.

Since the affected transactions are showing as Unidentified Security, there are steps you can take to associate those transactions with the correct securities. However, given the number of transactions affected, I recommend creating a backup of your Quicken file before making any changes.

Because your situation involves a large number of transactions and began after the PNC connection method changed, I would recommend trying the steps on one affected transaction first rather than manually editing all 64 transactions. If that corrects the security and share information as expected, I recommend following the same process for the remaining transactions.

Well, the transactions only had a total price as they did not include the number of shares, share price or commission. It actually recorded it as a bond purchase. Your instructions implied to me that the number of shares and prices were included and that only the name of the security was missing. This is not my case. When I tried just to update the name of the security, Quicken insisted that I add all the other info also. When I did the comparison in step 6, it was a difference comparison as that security dropped off the list because it now matches. I did go into PNC's website and downloaded the transaction file for Quicken but it is for the quarter so a lot more transactions than what I want. I restored an old backup file and uploaded this OFX file into Quicken and it entered the securities properly but this without a connection change. I tried to restore this old file again, do the connection change without downloading but I couldn't stop the download so the same thing happened with the Unknown Securities so it is repeatable.

I did an export of the transactions (csv file) so I could try to match them up to what is Quicken file. Unfortunately, they are not in the same order as the transactions were entered in Quicken so I have to search through the spreadsheet to find the right transaction to enter it correctly in Quicken. I am concerned that the next time there are purchase or sell transactions, the same thing will happen again. Where does the problem rest, with Quicken or PNC?

Thank you for providing these additional details. The fact that the issue also occurs in a backup file, while the same transaction imports correctly using the OFX file downloaded directly from PNC, I recommend contacting Quicken Support so an agent can review the account and connection details to determine where the issue is occurring. They can also review the relevant logs and, if necessary, escalate the issue to the appropriate team for further investigation.
