Keeping up with Apple

I keep getting notices from Apple that my current version of Quicken won't work with a new Apple IOS. Any thoughts on how to upgrade my Quicken 17 (Version 4.8.6 (Build 48.20336.100)?

I have records going back to 1994 and can't lose them.

Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

You are on a very old version of Quicken in 4.8.6. The next macOS release will not support running Intel apps. Here's one reference:

Current version is 9.2.1 and this is now a subscription product. You really have two choices:

Subscribe to the current version of Quicken. You will be able to import your older Quicken data to the current version.
Do not upgrade your macOS beyond the version that you are currently running and continue to use your Quicken version 4.8.6 at your own risk.

Quicken 2017, as @RickO states, is nearly a decade old. Quicken 2017 was written when Macs ran on Intel chips, and the warning you are seeing is a result of changes Apple is making in the upcoming macOS 27 ("Golden Gate") and then next year's macOS 28.

If your Mac is more than 5-6 years old and has an Intel chip, then you cannot upgrade to macOS 27 when it is released next month. Period. You can stick with the current macOS 26 ("Tahoe") or macOS 15 ("Sequoia"), and your old Quicken 2017 will continue to run just as it does now.

If your Mac is newer and has an M-series Apple chips, then you can upgrade to macOS 27 when it is released next month. And your Quicken 2017 will continue to work on it — but this is the end of the line. Apple is warning users with apps written for Intel processors that the next macOS 28, to be release in October 2027, will not run any Intel apps (because they are removing the Rosetta 2 software which enables modern Macs to run Intel-based software). So if you have an M-series Mac, you can upgrade to macOS 27 and Quicken 2017 will still run, but it won't run if you subsequently upgrade to macOS28 next fall.

Pull down the Apple menu to About This Mac to see the type of chip and version of macOS you are running.

As @RickO said, the solution, if you need one, is to upgrade your Quicken to the current version (9.2). Quicken has been sold on a subscription basis for the past 9 years, so you will have to accept paying for an annual subscription. Or, if you don't renew your subscription after a year, you can continue to use Quicken but about 1/4 of your screen will be coopted by the program to display notices urging you to renew. (Some people find it okay to work like this, some do not.)

You can get it on Amazon, you might even save a few bucks. It's also worth checking reputable online dealers (Best Buy, Newegg, Office Depot) to see if you can get it on sale somewhere.
