Why is manually entering data in Investment registry so slow?

Lately, while entering new entries in the investment registry, it takes longer than 15 seconds to write the entry in the Quicken data file before I can enter the next entry. Painfully slow process when you have 10-15 entries to do.

This investment account, 401k from Fidelity Net Benefits, does not update automatically which is another problem that I gave up on fixing ages ago.  All other Fidelity accounts update fine.

I have had the 401 k account for about 15 years and it has a lot of entries in it.

Any suggestions?

Banking accounts are, internally to Q, an ENTIRELY different animal than investment accounts. They're structured differently and they behave differently …  so your comparison is just this side of meaningless.

If you hold ANY closed positions (you no longer hold ANY of a particular security) in the 401k, you can improve it's performance considerably by taking a backup and then Archiving the non-open positions in the account.

When I archived one of my IRA accounts, 80% of the transactions were removed to the Archival account … which is still available  for all report. Archiving just gets the closed positions out of the "live" account.

But if you want to continue with poor performance in the 401k, that's your choice and privilege.

4300. I do not archive any accounts.

Checking account has over 7000 entries.  Not problem with it being slow

A bit more info needed in order to help you.   When you do TOOLS, Account List … what shows as the "# of Transactions" in that account?

And, have you ever tried "Archiving" the closed positions in that account to another account?
