Column Headers Don't Appear (version 3)

First reported in 2022, my post was closed by Quicken with no comments.

Reported again in 2023, there was lots of feedback about my laptop monitor and settings, but no resolution. One user asked me to upvote a posted "Request for fix" about the issue and I did - that request is now gone.

So here I am, 4 years later, just upgraded to R69.26 - and the problem is still a problem.

Can I please get some help from Quicken, on this? Every time I use my investment screens, I have to remember what's in what column. I shouldn't have to. I fully realize this might be something about my display settings but I need help figuring out WHY I can't see the text at the top of my columns.

I have no record of it, but I'm pretty sure I submitted this as an issue from within Quicken, too.

P.S. I can no longer find where I can update my "signature" line that shows my version of Quicken, which is no longer correct.

As for the original problem I have no real suggestion, it seems to be tied to the fact that you have a 4K monitor. I notice that one suggestion that it was that because three lines couldn't be displayed but it didn't look like that to me because no text at all appears. I tried a few setting in my setup, but my max resolution is 2560x1440 and I can't reproduce it.

I think the main reason this hasn't been addressed is twofold. One is the number of complaints isn't too high because most people using Quicken don't have these monitors and so it isn't even being assigned to a developer to fix it. And the second is that to fix it they would have to be able to reproduce it and that would start with them having a setup like your, which might even be doubtful especially if it is more than just "a 4K monitor" and there is something else special in the setup.

I’m sorry to hear that you’re still experiencing this behavior.

Since you’re using a 4K monitor, the Windows display scaling/high-DPI settings may be contributing to the issue. The fact that the column names appear when you hover over them is consistent with a DPI or scaling issue, rather than the columns actually being missing.

One thing I'd suggest trying is changing Quicken's high-DPI scaling setting:

Close Quicken.
Right-click the Quicken shortcut (or qw.exe) and select Properties.
Go to Compatibility → Change high DPI settings.
Under High DPI scaling override, check Override high DPI scaling behavior.
Try Application from the dropdown.
Click OK, then reopen Quicken and check the Portfolio view.

If Application makes everything too small, try System instead.

For this test, I recommend leaving your monitor at its native 4K resolution (3840 × 2160) rather than changing the Windows display resolution.

I’ve seen other users have success with this change. However, please note that the fonts throughout the app may not appear as clear as they do with the System (Enhanced) setting.
