the balance column changed to a huge difference, now I have lost all of 2025 that I was entering and don't know how to get it back.

What you can try is to restore from a backup from before the issue occurred. The article highlighted in blue will provide the steps that you will need to retrieve your data.

The first thing to check is whether your register is filtered or sorted out of date order.
(1) Check to see if the register is accidentally sorted by any column other than Date. There should be a little up or down arrow to the right of the word Date in the column heading.
If you don't see that little arrow next to Date, you'll probably see it next to another column heading. This can easily happen with an inadvertent click near another column heading. Your register is sorted by the column which has the little arrow. Click the Date heading to sort the register in date order. (Clicking it a second time will toggle the date sort order between older-to-newest and newest-to-oldest.)
(2) Check to see if you inadvertently set a date or other filter. You want to see each of the three filters set to All, like here:
If you see a green Reset button on the right side of the filters, it means that one or more filters have been changed. For instance, you might have inadvertently changed from All Dates to This Year. If the Reset button is "lit up", click it to set the filters back to All.
Making sure all filters are set to All and the sort order is set to the the Date column will solve 90+% of odd balance or missing transaction mysteries.
If you've done this and your transactions are still missing and out of whack, then you might consider restoring from a recent backup as described above.
