I've been using Quicken since Quicken for Windows 3.0 or maybe Quicken 97, somewhere around that time. Even after all these years, I know there is so much more Quicken can do that I haven't even scratched the surface of.
I've recently run into a problem that I can't seem to figure out.
I added a new Mastercard credit card account, and I'm having an issue clearing split transactions that are automatically populated from previous transactions. I'm not sure if "memorized transactions" is the correct term, but here's an example.
Let's say I make a purchase at Walmart. Quicken automatically fills in the categories and split amounts based on a previous transaction. Normally, I can click the X in the Category field, which displays the message "Clear all split lines for this transaction," and it removes all the existing split lines so I can start fresh.
This still works perfectly in my regular checking account, but it doesn't work in the new Mastercard account.
Here's what I've found:
- Clicking the X in the Category field of the Mastercard transaction does not clear the split lines.
- If I open the Split Transaction window, I can manually delete the individual lines.
- I can also use the Clear All button inside the Split Transaction window, and that works.
- The problem is specifically with clearing the splits directly from the transaction without having to open the Split Transaction window.
I'm wondering if I missed a setting when I initially added the Mastercard account, or if there is something different about how Quicken handles split transactions in credit card accounts.
It seems strange that the exact same function works in one account but not the other.
Has anyone experienced this? Is there a setting I need to change, or am I missing something obvious?
I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!
