I Found XOM listed as two different cusips in my Quicken, apparently the old cusip did not update. How do I Use latest cusip AND update the recent name change under “ExxonMobil Holdings Corp”? Quicken will not allow two stock entries in my case to change to the SAME name.

Do you want older transactions to use the older name associated with the older CUSIP and newer transactions to use the newer name / newer CUSIP? If so, the Corporate Acquisition effective as of the appropriate date should bring your older holdings under the newer name.

If you want all (older and newer) transactions under one name, you need to edit each transaction to reflect the desired name.

• Choose whichever name leads to fewer edits. Copy that name to your clipboard - Ctrl-c.
• Sort the transaction list by security name
• Highlight the undesired Exxon security and paste in the desired name - Ctrl-v
• Enter to accept the change and advance to the next transaction
• Repeat as needed to make all the changes.

Once the edits are completed, go to the security list - Ctrl-y.

• Delete the undesired security.
• Edit the remaining security
  • Make sure the ticker is correct = XOM.
  • Change the name if you want to. It does not need to match anything else.
  • If the CUSIP is correct, you’re done.
  • If the CUSIP is the older one, uncheck the box about Matched with online security. That will remove the old CUSIP. Ok the changes. On your next download, you will get the chance to reset the match-up.

While all that sounds extreme and complicated, it is not really so cumbersome as it might seem
