Fidelity Core Fund Downloads - Just When I Thought I'd Seen Everything ...

Trying to reconcile a cash account linked to a brokerage account, I saw it was off by $12.40:

So I went to the brokerage register and saw:

(Note the Div transaction in the core MMF at the top.)

But first I saw the bogus placeholder entry, and thought to delete it. (The online tab has Reconcile to Online Balance unchecked, but this kind of bogus entry appears after downloads in a few - not all - Fidelity brokerage accounts.)

Anyway, deleting it got:

Then clicking on the Div transation, without typing anything:

Presto changeo - the $181.61 amount (the same as in the bogus placeholder transaction) turned into the missing $12.40 - the actual SPAXX dividend amount.

But - the $12.40 didn't show in the cash account because the transaction is a Div, not a DivX. So I clicked Edit on the transaction, and then Done, without saving anything and - presto changeo:

Div turns into DivX. And it appears in the cash account, which now reconciles. Until next month …

I have submitted this as a problem report, only because there's no menu entry for reporting a UFO sighting. (Unexplainable Fidelity Oddity)

Edit: A simpler way: Without touching the bogus placeholder entry, clicking on the Div transaction and clicking Edit brings up the Edit window with the correct $12.40 amount. And clicking Done saves it as a DivX.

Or - clicking on the Div transaction and changing it to a DivX makes the correct $12.40 show up in the linked cash account. But it still shows as $181.61 in the brokerage register.

Thanks, @Quicken Kristina . But also please note the bogus no-op placeholder entry in the first screen grab - IIRC the share count shown is the cumulative core fund dividends since the placeholders started appearing in the account - and that amount appearing in the Div transaction instead of the real amount $12.40 which shows when anything is done to that transaction.

Does it equal the cumulative SPAXX dividends since the placeholders began appearing?
Does it correspond to a SPAXX share balance, share-count difference, or some other value shown by Fidelity?
Does the $181.61 appear anywhere on the Fidelity website, such as in the transaction history, statements, or downloaded transaction data?
Do you remember what information Quicken was asking you to enter when the placeholder was created—for example, transaction history, estimated average cost, number of shares, etc.?

Also, could you check the transaction in both the brokerage and linked cash accounts?

In the brokerage account, when you open Edit Transaction, does it show $12.40 or $181.61?
Does the Edit Transaction window show the transaction as a split transaction, or are there any split lines/components?
Is there a transfer to the linked cash account shown anywhere in the transaction details?
In the linked cash account, when you open the corresponding transaction, what amount and transaction type/action does the Edit Transaction window show?

These details may help determine whether the $181.61 is actually part of the dividend transaction, is related to the placeholder or SPAXX share data, or is simply being displayed differently in the brokerage register.

Regarding the $181.61 value:

No. I've seen something like that in the bogus placeholder entries, but that's not happening here.

Does it correspond to a SPAXX share balance, share-count difference, or some other value shown by Fidelity?
Does the $181.61 appear anywhere on the Fidelity website, such as in the transaction history, statements, or downloaded transaction data?

It's not in the Fidelity Portfolio Activity register for that account YTD, or anywhere in the brokerage statements.

Searching the Quicken register for 181.61 doesn't find it. But looking back at the SPAXX dividends for prior months, they all show a share balance of 181.61, back to October 2025. Going back to September 2025 the balance changes, but continuing back there are share balances.

Amusingly, in February there's a duplicate Divx transaction (with no c status). That's only happened that time, because when that one is deleted the account reconciles.

And in December 2025 a Div and a Divx:

but that didn't cause any problems because the Div doesn't show an amount.

Do you remember what information Quicken was asking you to enter when the placeholder was created—for example, transaction history, estimated average cost, number of shares, etc.?

It didn't ask for anything. I opened Quicken, ran a One Step Update and accepted the transactions.

Also, could you check the transaction in both the brokerage and linked cash accounts?

In the brokerage account, when you open Edit Transaction, does it show $12.40 or $181.61?

No.

There's no transfer because it's a Div, not a DivX. But when the Edit window opens the transaction, the amount is $12.40 and the Transfer Account - and also the Account - appear and are grayed out.

In the linked cash account, when you open the corresponding transaction, what amount and transaction type/action does the Edit Transaction window show?

But when I click Enter/Done, it turns into a DivX. And then it appears in the linked cash account as a $12.40 deposit.

Backing out to the day before that download, and downloading again, the Downloaded Transactions list shows the transaction as a Div of $12.40.

When the transactions are accepted, it shows in the register as a Div $181.61. The bogus placeholder is there but shows all on one line:

Going to another account and back to this one, it's the same. But closing Quicken and reopening, it shows:

Clicking on the Div transaction, it doesn't show any amount.

I know you mentioned that the brokerage account has a linked cash account. Based on your description and screenshots, the $181.61 looks like a balance rather than a transaction amount. Could you clarify which column the $181.61 appears in? For example, is it in the Cash Balance column or the Shares column?
