How to delete WBD Stock in Quicken?

I have more than one purchase, and today, WBD was delisted. I tried to DELETE the stock but it can't be done?

On my Broker page I see this:

But in my Holdings it is still there (shares of stock in 2 lots). Why I try to delete to total I get this:

Trying to delete each transaction, nothing happens, no window and no deletion?

What should I be doing?

When I go to my Brokerage web page, the stock is NOT listed but there was a cash transaction today?

Thank you for trying the suggested steps, @Irv Spalten. Since WBD was hidden from the Security List, please first unhide the security:

Go to Tools > Security List and uncheck the Hidden box for WBD.
Open the Schwab account and select Adjust Share Balance from the account's gear menu.
Enter the WBD symbol or security name and select WBD.
Enter 0 as the current share balance and save the adjustment.
Review the account's Holdings to confirm WBD no longer shows as a current position.

Once the WBD position has been reduced to zero shares, you can return to the Security List and hide WBD again if desired.

You don't need to delete the WBD security or its historical transactions. Keeping those transactions preserves your investment history, while the zero-share balance removes WBD from your current holdings.

That is why the Remove is the incorrect approach in my opinion. As you indicated, Skydance BOUGHT your shares of WBD. Effectively, you SOLD the shares to them. That is why it should be a Shares Sold transaction. Per Tom's prior information, you should have seen $3095 +/- added to your account. Did you? Come tax time, you will have taxable income based on the gain/loss of the difference between that $3095 and your basis. Maybe that is valuable information to you now; maybe you don't care.

The "Hide" function primarily serves for user interface considerations. It is not intended to hide information about securities you actually hold or that Quicken believes you hold.

Your Quicken transaction should (in my opinion) be one Shares Sold of 100 shares of WDB for $3,095 on 10/7/2026. You should not (in my opinion) rely on the download from the financial institution to fully describe what is necessary and appropriate in YOUR Quicken file and data.

WBD was bought by Skydance Corporation. It looks like WBD shareholders received $30.95 per share. If that's what you're seen then you need to enter a
Sold action for your WBD shares. That should result in 0 shares of WBD in your Account. You don't want to "delete" the stock, you do have historical transaction in your Quicken Account and deleting those transactions would probably mess up the cash balance in your Account.

Simply "Hide" that security in your security list.

I know that the stocks were sold due to the merger.

However, I can't find the HIDE?

Right mouse button on stock has no hide?

Edit has NO Hide?

Stock quantity was from 2 lots; the first one was from a stock split, and in Quicken I never updated the split price:

Can I not DELETE either of those?

Brokerage account (Schwab) no longer has any shares for WBD listed, even?

It did have the sale of the shares and proceeds, though.

Did it 'forget' to send the 'delete' for the stock? Have I bought and sold others without a problem in Quicken?

Hi @Irv Spalten,

Thank you for reaching out. If the security still appears in your holdings after hiding it from the Security List, as @Tom Young suggested , you can try updating the share balance to remove it.

To do this:

Open the account that currently shows the security.
Click the gear icon in the upper-right corner of the account register.
Select Update Share Balance.
Enter the name of the security.
Enter 0 as the current number of shares and follow the prompts to save the change.

This should remove the security from your holdings.

Please let me know if you have any questions or if it still appears.

I followed both suggestions.

Tom, I was able to add that column, but I am unsure what it should do, as it did NOT hide WBD in the Schwab list?

What I did:

Going back and looking at the holdings for Schwab account and it was still there? I don't know what is did at all?

Laura, followed your suggestion, but there is nothing there I can do about it?

That list seems to be every stock I've ever owned but WBD is not on it? Could the 'hide' that I did first clear that our?

To be sure, I opened the account list:

It is STILL there???

I just ran another PASS of getting updates, no change in Schwab other than updated stock prices?

Is the problem Schwab? Should they have 'sent' a delete of the stock notice to Quicken?

The Tools > Security List has a "show hidden securities" check box, so if you're seeing a hidden security when looking at that list, then uncheck that box.

IF all the WBD shares were sold THEN you should not see shares of WBD when you look at "Holdings" in the Schwab Account, assuming the number of shares sold equals the number of shares of WBD shown immediately before the sale in the Account. Was that in fact the case when you created the sold transaction?

I did NOT sell the shares myself.

Skydance merged on that day with WBD and Paramount. Skydance then bought ALL outstanding share of WBD, my 2 lots (totaling 100 shares).

Turning OFF HIDE doesn't change anything either.

Yes, I did see the additional value added to my account, see the FIRST post I made.

Other times I've sold, or bought stocks when I d/l'ed the brokerage firm to Quicken, it reflected the transactions in Quicken, money from it and deletion of stock holding or visa versa, subtraction of purchase amount from account and additional stock shares held. Not this time, only the sales info.
