Downloaded dividend not matching to the security from the dividend

In Quicken Windows what is used to match a downloaded dividend to the specific security the dividend is from? Does Quicken use the security symbol or the CUSIP ID? Having problem with a security not associating a downloaded dividend with that security.

OK thanks for those details.

First, make sure the split is recorded correctly. There should be one StkSplit for the original security, entered as 1 for 3. Delete any Added or Removed transactions. After the StkSplit, there should be a Sold of that security for any fractional shares.

If there are any remaining transactions for the new security, a dividend for example, edit them so they use the name of the old security.

You should now be able to delete the new security. Do that.

Now go to the Security Detail page for the the old security and click on Edit details. Un-check the Matched with online Security box. This will clear the security's CUSIP number.

Then next time there is a transaction for the security, you should see a dialog asking how to match it to a security in Quicken. Carefully select the old security ETHA and you should be good going forward.

Quicken uses the CUSIP ID to match downloaded transactions like dividends to the correct security in your file.

If a dividend is being matched to the wrong security, go to the wrong security's Security Detail page. Click on Edit Details and un-check the "Matched to online security" box.

Then go to the correct security's Security Detail page, click on Edit Details, and if the Matched to online box is checked, un-check that too.

This will not correct previous mismatches, but the next time a transaction downloads for either security, you will be presented with a dialog to match it to the correct security. Make sure you select the correct one and the transactions should match correctly going forward.

Here is the issue I have, several mutual funds that have split and they have retained their same security symbol but have changed their CUSIP ID after the split. Any suggestions on how to handle this issue?

Are you sure it is a split and not a spinoff or share class conversion?

If you give a couple of examples of the funds involved, we can give guidance on how to handle it.

Here the most current split that I have to deal with that changed the CUSIP.

The iShares Ethereum Trust ETF (ETHA) executed a 1‑for‑3 reverse share split effective October 6, 2026, combining every three shares into one.

Details of the ETHA Reverse Split

Split type: Reverse split (1-for-3).
Approval date: July 31, 2026.
Record date: October 5, 2026.
Effective trading date: October 6, 2026 — shares began trading on a split‑adjusted basis on NASDAQ.
CUSIP change: Updated to 46438R204 following the split.
Fractional shares: None issued; fractional amounts were redeemed for cash (potential tax implications).
Impact: Reduced shares outstanding and increased NAV per share without changing total investment value.
