Citi Credit Cards - two accounts are mis-matched after renaming

Question

I have two Citi AAadvantage cards with very long names.  Each has a unique 4-digit number at the end.  Since the card titles are so long, they will not display in the window.  I edited the card names in Quicken and shortened them to "Citi AAadvantage - xxxx" and "Citi AAadvantage - xxxx," keeping the unique 4-digit numbers.  Now when I sync, the first card (with lower numbers) syncs fine, but the second card (higher numbers) is all over the place (ranging from $2,000 higher to $2,000 lower).  I made a backup file and have repeatedly tried to re-sync these cards separately and together.  I also have two other Citi accounts that work perfectly (but without the long AAadvantage names.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

@EFKelm there seems to be several Citi AAdvantage FIs listed.  If you can find two that will connect with your credit cards, then use a different FI for each credit card.

To me it sounds like perhaps your problem account might have an issue that connecting to a different Citi FI will not resolve.

Sometimes when an account connection has been changed (deactivated/reauthorized, reset or changed from one connection method to another) there are a few things that can go wrong in the account register throwing the balance off and no amount of account balancing transaction entries will resolve it.

If this is what has happened to your problematic account, you might want to try doing the following steps.  Doing this steps will usually resolve this kind of issue.  (Note: Check the account balance after each step.  If the account is then in balance you will not need to do any of the steps that follow it.):

* Backup your primary data file before proceeding.
* Check the Opening Balance transaction dollar amount of the problematic credit card.  Is it correct?  If you do not know, try opening a backup file dated from any time before when this problem first occurred and you know which will include this particular account.  That backup file should have the correct Opening Balance transaction dollar amount in it for that problem account.  If what is shown there is different from what is in your primary data file, edit the dollar amount in the primary data file to match what is shown in the backup file.
* If this does not resolve the account balance issue in the problematic account:  Delete any and all account balancing transactions you might have entered into the register in an attempt to get the account back into balance.
* If the problem still exists:  Scroll backward through the account register looking for duplicate transactions.  If any are found, delete one while retaining the other.  (Duplicate transactions, if they are present, will usually show up in the register within a window of 90 days prior to when this issue started occurring.  But you might need to scroll back further than that if the issue still exists after deleting the duplicates within that 90 days window.)
* If the problem still exists:  Click on "Opening Balance" in the Opening Balance transaction in the register.  Then click on the "Payee" column header.  This will sort the register by Payee.  If you now see a 2nd Opening Balance transaction in the register next to the original Opening Balance transaction, retain the original one and delete the other one.  Then click on the Date column header to get the register sorted by date, again.
