Reopening the closed discussion describing a problem in my etrade account with VMRXX dividend transactions. They appear in my brokerage account but are a 'ghost' in the linked cash account. Even though the transaction in the brokerage account shows the linked etrade cash account as the transfer account. There's a manual workaround that fixes it. I select the problem transaction in the brokerage account, click Edit, then, without making any changes to the transaction, I just click Enter, and all is good. The transaction magically shows up in the linked cash account.
I meant to follow up when the next dividend hit the account but didn't get to it before the discussion was closed. I'm following up here because the problem is still happening. Both the September and October dividends didn't appear in the linked cash account, and there was no option to click on "Go to transfer" when right-clicking the transaction.
Here are some screenshots illustrating the issue:
The first one shows the Vanguard transaction hitting the brokerage account on 9/1 and 10/1
The next image shows the linked cash account not recieving the cash from the transaction.
The 3rd image highlights the manual workaround where simply clicking Edit and Enter will correct the problem. Note the linked cash account showing as the transfer account. Also note how, before the workaround, the problem transactions are showing as Divs and not DivX until after clicking Enter. (See the next 2 images for that.
This next image shows the workaround for the 10/1 transaction. Note how that 9/1 transaction now shows as up as a DivX.
The last image shows how all the fixed transactions are no longer ghosts and now appear in the register of the linked cash account.
The "Div" instead of "DivX" in the brokerage transaction can be a helpful clue to what's happening. Only after the workaround of clicking Edit and Enter without making any other changes did the "Div" change to "DivX".
In my past post, I wrote that I suspect this could be related to the new feature allowing us to treat a money market as cash. In my case, I set VMRXX as the money market to treat as cash for my etrade account. The problem only happens with VMRXX dividends, so that's a good indication the new feature isn't working correctly in this situation.
