Can I connect to PayPal with a login other than email or phone?

When attempting to connect a PayPal account, the Log In with PayPal expects an email or mobile phone. However, primary account owners may give a treasurer or accountant a PayPal login ID which is not an email or phone, and normally PayPal accepts those IDs. Is there a way around this issue without having the use the primary owner's credentials?

PayPal connects via Express Web Connect+. During set up of this connection, Quicken pushes you to the financial institution (FI) website where you need to log in using whatever your normal login is and then you can authorize the FI to download your account(s) data to Intuit (Quicken's aggregator). Once this EWC+ connection setup is completed there is no additional login needed because the FI has already shared a revolving security token with Intuit. So there is no more log-in needed when doing OSU in the future.

The exception to this is when PayPal uses 2FA as an additional level of security during the OSU process. Then the user will be prompted to enter either an email address or a mobile phone number that PayPal has on record. Then PayPal will send a security code to that email or mobile number. That security code must then be entered into Quicken before the PayPal data can be downloaded into the Quicken application.

This 2FA process requirement is not something we can change in Quicken. Nor can Quicken disable it. It is a requirement of the FI. You can check with your PayPal online account to see if you have the option to turn off 2FA. If this option does not exist, then you can try contacting PayPal and ask them if they can disable it from their end. If PayPal does not allow for it then there is no way around it.
