How to Override Express Web Connect

Question

I have two Citi Bank credit cards in Quicken Classic Deluxe for Windows, one under my name and one under my wife's. Both of these require different online logins. Now that Quicken has implemented Express Web Connect, Quicken is trying to combine both of these into one download access, which does not work.

How do I override the combined download and create two downloads like it was before? This may need to override the Express Connect option.

Or can I force Quicken to create two separate logins and not lump them together?

Some financial institutions do not allow for multiple download setups such as downloading for yourself under your login and downloading for your wife under her login using the same Add Account financial institution.  In my observations, it appears that Citi is one that has such a restriction.

However, Citi also provides multiple financial institutions that can be used to get around this restriction.  When you open Add Account, type Citi into the search field you will get the view shown in the following picture.  I know the ones that are highlighted in yellow in the following picture can be used with several different Citi credit cards…but only 1 login can be used with each.  So, after getting one account set up with one of these financial institutions, you can try setting up the other credit card with a different financial institution.    Have you tried setting up your credit card with one of these and your wife's credit card with a different one?

There are quite a few other Citi financial institutions that are available in Add Account but I believe most of them work only with the specific card or type of account that is included in the name of the financial institution.  For instance, Citi ThankYou Mastercard works only with that card and AT&T Universal Card works only with that card.  You can scroll down through the list to see other options which might be applicable to your credit card or your wife's credit card.

Let me know if this works for you.

If it does not, let me know which Citi credit card name is yours and which Citi credit card name is your wife's.  Then perhaps I can offer a more specific suggestion.

Every time I try to link the second account, it automatically finds and removes the second account, because "it does not have access."  I have also contacted Citi to see if I can link these accounts, which is a problem due to different primary users. I will continue with this tomorrow during normal business hours.

@Dean N If the two Citi card accounts use different Citi online IDs, I would expect them to need to be authorized separately. During the authorization process, make sure that only the accounts associated with the Citi login being authorized are linked to the corresponding existing Quicken accounts. If both accounts are listed, do not connect the other account.

I am not aware of any user-accessible setting that overrides EWC+ and forces Citibank credit cards back to the older connection method. Citi has migrated credit card accounts to EWC+, so the connection method is generally determined by Citi and Quicken rather than by the user.

If Quicken is repeatedly combining the accounts, or if authorizing one Citi login causes the other login's accounts to become disconnected, that may indicate a Citi/EWC+ connection issue rather than an account setup issue. In that case, contacting Quicken Support would be advisable so they can review the cloud account and connection logs.
