Using Q14, I receive error core 6909 and then program shuts down. Validate and repair displays no errors detected. Downloading backup file, automatic and periodic, does not seem to help. Any suggestions? Thank you.
@RPMDMM this is a long shot, but if your data file name longer than 8 characters, try shortening it to something 8 characters or less.
By "Q14" do you mean "Quicken 2014"?
Did this occur after reinstalling Quicken?
Did this start happening after you tried running or activating any online services such as OSU, securities quotations, etc., or after trying to sign into the program?
Only happens when I open one particular account on Quicken 14, otherwise okay. No online services are used at all with Quicken. It seems Q14 will not connect with quicken.com to send an error report. All firewalls have been checked but to no avail.
@RPMDMM since the issue appears to be isolated to a single account, it may be worth trying a Copy File operation if that feature is available in your Quicken 2014 version. The copy process rebuilds the data file and can sometimes resolve issues caused by data corruption that Validate & Repair does not detect.
The fact that Quicken crashes only when opening one account is an important clue. That tends to point more toward account-specific data corruption, a damaged transaction, or other data within that account rather than a problem with Quicken as a whole.
Since Validate & Repair is reporting no errors, I'd be interested to know:
I would place less emphasis on Quicken 2014's inability to send an error report. Given the age of the software, that communication path may no longer function. The more useful clue is that the problem is reproducible with one specific account while the rest of the file appears to work normally.
As always, please make a backup of your data file when attempting any troubleshooting steps.
Thanks for the additional information. With what you stated, the issue does not appear to be related to something else that I was thinking about. So, I'll step back unless I can think of anything else that might be applicable.
