Suggestion For Improvement: Freeze View When Switching Between Years

In the Budget tool, I find myself flipping back to prior years in order to judge the budget I am creating for the next year. However, when I do that, the view resets back to the top. I was, for example, looking at my utilities, which are down at the bottom of the list, and switching back and forth was a huge pain as I had to scroll down every time the view reset. Essentially, keep the view constant at the current row. Also, it would be nice to have the option to create a budget for an individual category/line based on the prior year's actuals or an average of prior actuals. [Edited - Readability]

I have a question about your suggestion.

Do you mean you would like to have the feature above but have the opportunity to select individual categories instead of all categories?

If so, to request this feature to be added in the future, what you can do is create an idea post. This way, other users who have the same or a similar request can vote on your idea.

Our Development and Product teams frequently use our idea posts in order to improve Quicken and implement new features requested by customers.

In terms of @ksdeuser@ first ask, I believe they are refering to the ability to toggle between years in the annual view and freeze the scroll view between them. See Image. Today, when a user changes the year, the budget view defaults to the top half requiring one to scroll down to the line item being work on.

A workaround you could use while awaiting a fix from Quicken would be to take a screen capture of the lower section of the current year budget. Then scroll down in the new year budget and refer to the screen capture for the current year category values.

My question was regarding the second part of @ksdeuser@’s comment: the ability to create a budget for individual categories or line items based on the previous year’s actual spending or an average of prior years’ actuals.

I am looking for clarification so I can confirm whether the program is working correctly and whether we should create an idea post, or if the program isn't working and needs to be looked into.

The option to copy actual values for a selected category rather than the entire list for the 12 preceding months. So if I am setting up a plan for 2027 in October of 2026, the option to populate Oct, Nov and Dec from 2025 as well, or a toggle to use the prior plan for the missing months.
