With new self created groups in sidebar, allow updating for all accounts in each selected group

Now we can create our own groups in the sidebar and move account within each created group as we wish and in the order we want ( which is great )

I would suggest that right clicking (contextual menu ) on a group title allow us to update all accounts in that particular group

eg: update all credit cards in the Created Credit card group (mine include Credit Margin account)

and even in the credit card which is not a created group, would be nice

Ability to create new account group is good, but unable to create new account group within existing groups - would like to create new account group as sub group of Investments as an example. Also once new account group is created, I don't see a way to edit (or even delete) the new account group.

Also unable to generate normal transaction screens (valuation, perfomance, etc) when clicking new account group - can only get that information by individual account in the new group

To delete a created account group,

right click to see contextual menu and ungroup the account, after you are left with only the title of the group, right click again and you'll see delete

I am on Quicken Mac (Version 9.3.0 (Build 903.62664.100)).

I'd really like to create custom groups, place the custom group as a subgroup of Investing/Brokerage or Investing/Retirement or just under Investing.

I would then like to click on the custom group, and then get the Dashboard, Portfolio, and Transactions views for the accounts in that custom group.

I think there are two separate feature requests requested above:

(1) Allow the creation of custom account groups to be subgroups of higher groups, including subgroups of default groups. For example, within the Investing > Retirement subgroup, allow a user to create subgroups for "Tax-Deferred" and "Tax Free" retirement accounts.

(2) Enable user-created custom account groups to behave the same as default groups do: allow the user to click on the custom account group and have some or all of the regular tabs and screens available: Dashboard, Portfolio and Transactions for investment groups or Transactions, Spending, Income, Balance for banking groups. (Since custom groups allow mixing of investment and banking accounts, it would be up to the developers to determine what tabs can or cannot be enabled for a mixed custom group.)

I would like to see both of these features implemented.

@Lee1 You should add your post and vote to a different Idea thread which already asks for the ability to create custom acocunt groups as subgroups custom or default groups:

I agree. I just tried to do the same thing - create a sub group of tax deferred accounts so I can automatically track RMD status. When I created the original group it sat outside of investing and my total investing group totals diminished.

I really appreciate Quicken adding the ability to create custom groups, but I guess I thought sub groups was going to be obvious. Unfortunately it's not really a feature I can use until that ability is added. Still, I appreciate that Quicken is listening, though.

I would like to be able to have my custom groups be sub-groups under Banking to get the various banking group tabs (Transactions/Spending/Income/Balance). Either that or to flag them as Banking-type groups so that they are treated the same way as Banking without being under the Banking parent group.

I fully agree with @Brad L Vandermoon

It may be useful to refer to the top-level fixed groupings (Banking, Investing, Property & Debt) as 'Account Categories' and use the term 'Account Group' to refer to groupings within them.

We don't really need to be able to create custom top-level 'Account Categories'.

We do need to be able to create custom 'Account Groups' that are peers to the existing fixed groups (Checking, Savings, Credit Card, Brokerage, Retirement)

Custom 'Account Groups' should support all the same features as the existing fixed groups (cumulative Dashboard, Portfolio, Transaction, Watch List, Spending, Income, Balance views as per the top-level 'Account Category')

'Account Groups' should also appear in lists used to select accounts/groups (i.e. Investing Dashboard account select droplist)

To avoid confusion, I suggest not trying rename the elements as you did. There are main account groups: Banking, Investing, Property & Debt, Assets. Within some of those main groups, there are subgroups: like Checking, Savings, Cash, and Credit Card under Banking and Brokerage and Retirement under Investing. The new custom account groups available in version 9.3, we can create groups which exist at the highest level: peers of Banking and Investing. We cannot create custom account groups which are subgroups of main groups, at the level of Checking, Credit Cards, Retirement, etc. This is what you're wanting to be able to do — and I 100% agree. And I add that we cannot create subgroups of existing subgroups, such as a Tax-Deferred subgroup of the Retirement subgroup. That is what is being asked for in this Idea topic, as noted in my post above:

Allow the creation of custom account groups to be subgroups of higher groups, including subgroups of default groups. For example, within the Investing > Retirement subgroup, allow a user to create subgroups for "Tax-Deferred" and "Tax Free" retirement accounts.

Version 9.3 has just been released within the last week, but this Idea thread will need to receive many more votes from fellow Quicken Mac users to reach the developers for possible implementation.
