Why is it that the Robinhood download setup automatically sets the tracking method to Simple?
It wasn't like that before. I could download just the transactions while the method was set to Complete.
@Robert Armani I understand your concern. If Complete Tracking is grayed out and only Simple Tracking is available, that doesn't help if your goal is to download transactions into an investment register as you were able to do previously.
Since the availability of Simple versus Complete Tracking is determined by the connection that's been implemented for a particular financial institution, I'll defer to the moderators on the "why" question. They may have additional information on whether Robinhood currently supports only Simple Tracking in Quicken and whether that is due to a Robinhood decision, a connectivity limitation, or a change in how the account is being supported.
Perhaps a moderator can weigh in with any official information regarding Robinhood's support for Complete Tracking.
Hi @Robert Armani,
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. If you haven't already, I suggest reviewing our support article for more information about investment tracking methods.
When Complete Investing isn't available for a specific account, Quicken defaults to Simple Investing. This allows you to monitor securities, positions, and balances, even without transaction-level details. This limitation is generally related to the level of data integration supported by the financial institution.
If your financial institution supports Complete Investing, you can try switching the tracking method manually. To do so:
I hope this helps!
@Robert Armani here is your post from 3 weeks ago. I am posting it again because it might better explain and give context to your current question.
With Robinhood, the Complete option is grayed out. The "download transactions" only gives you the Simple option, which is not what I want. Before, I could download the transactions into my register, now that option is not available. Therefore, the "Online Services" doesn't do me any good.
@Robert Armani although the Robinhood connection may be limited to Simple Investing, you do have another option. Creating the account as a manual investment account allows you to use Complete Investing features, including the investment transaction register, detailed performance reporting, realized gains tracking, income tracking, and transaction-level history. The tradeoff is that transactions must be entered or imported manually, but many users find the additional detail and transparency worth the extra effort.
Hello @Sceptic and @Robert Armani,
The financial institution decides whether to support Complete Tracking. I reached out internally to confirm whether Robinhood supports it. Since it is the weekend, I probably won't hear back from them until Monday or Tuesday.
I'll follow up once I hear back!
