Rules Disappearing

Hi,

My apologies for not responding to a request for additional information from my original post/question on 9/16/26.  I promise to check back and engage this time.

My original question was: Does anyone have trouble with disappearing renaming rules? It's random, but individual renaming rules just disappear - poof. One or two a month. Different rules disappear every time.

The requested information from Laura was:

Was the Remove Memorized Transactions checked in Preferences - YES, CHECKED TO REMOVE EVERY 3 MONTHS

Was "Automatically create rules when I rename payees" checked - YES

When did issue start - HAS BEEN GOING ON EVER SINCE RENAMES RULES WERE ADDED AS A FEATURE.

Where is the Quicken File located - IN MY USERS/[NAME]/DOCUMENTS/QUICKEN DIRECTORY

Is my Quicken being backed up by a third-party service - IT IS NOT.  IT IS BACKED UP USING QUICKEN'S BACKUP SERVICE.

I appreciate your earlier response, to which I did not response.  Hopefully, we can engage again.

I suspect that this is why your rules are disappearing so quickly.

When you find a downloaded transaction whose Renaming Rule has disappeared … how frequently do these transactions recur? Quarterly, Twice a year, Yearly, other?

You can try setting a Memorized Payee List Entry to "Locked". In that case it won't disappear, even if unused for longer than the Remove period.

You can also set the Remove period to a value greater than 12, to keep rarely entries around for at least a year
