I have been a user of Quicken with Fidelity Brokerage since Quicken began, and it worked smoothly. Beginning about a year ago, Quicken has become more and more opaque/unstable and unusable. I have been told by Quicken that I cannot have all the check-writing features because Fidelity Brokerage is not a "checking account". However, a year or two ago it worked smoothly. Can anyone see the overview of this problem and help me know what to ask for at Quicken? I have discussed this with Quicken 5 times in the past 6 months. Something changed at Quicken that made their product unusable for me. Fidelity tech people seem to be generally aware that Quicken has some problems, but view it as their problem - to which I agree.
I am on a PC using Quicken Classic Deluxe interfaced to a Fidelity Brokerage Cash Management Account - Quicken treats this as though it were a full brokerage account - if I want to withdraw cash, I have to go down past all the other alternatives like "sell security" and find withdraw cash. This does not involve error messages and such - it is an overall compatibility question.
