Cannot Print Investment Reports to Tab Delimited File

Quicken 2018 Version R9.34 Build 27.1.9.34

I have used the following process in the past, but now it doesn't work:

1. Click on Investing

2. Click Customize

3. Select "Market Value"

4. Select a Date

5. Click:
    - File
    - Print Portfolio
    - Export to Tab Delimited File

Drop Down Menu shows: tab-delimited (Excel compatible) disk file
But, Save as type: only shows Text(*.txt)

    I assume you are printing an Investing Portfolio view.

    In the Print Portfolio dialog clicking Export to: gives me a choice of Text file, Tab delimited or PRN

    I select Tab delimited then export. This shows a Create disk file dialog. The file type is limited to Text (.txt). The file name will default to .txt but you can give it any extension you want and it will still be tab delimited.

    Is this the same as you are seeing? I admit it is a little confusing.

    BTW if you are sending the file to Excel, I find choosing the .PRN option and giving the file a .csv extension works best because this creates a comma delimited file that you can open it directly in Excel, without going through the text file import wizard.

    That's exactly what I am seeing. Seems like it used to display .xlx or maybe .csv when I selected tab delimited. Anyway, I exported to a .txt and then opened with Excel and it worked. Thanks a bunch!

    True, but not material. The resulting .TXT file IS a tab-delimited file.


    [Note: when Excel saves to a tab-delimited file, that file also has a .TXT file extension.]
